Do you offer 1:1 tuition?

For the majority of children, my 12 week course will provide the necessary preparation for a fraction of the cost of traditional 1:1 tuition. However, I do still offer limited 1:1 sessions. Please contact me for availability.

Do you target specific schools?

My course is designed to cover areas tested by the GL exam board. However, I have also taken into account the CSSE which is similar.

How long is the course?

There are 12 weeks of content which you’ll have access to for 15 weeks.

How much time will my child need to spend on it each week?

On average, for self-study your child will need to have one-and-a-half to two hours available each week but this will vary from child to child as each is working at his / her own pace. Additionally, the live lesson is an hour long.

Does the course cover every aspect of the 11+?

Yes! I have designed the course to encompass Maths, Reading Comprehension, Writing Composition, Verbal Reasoning & Non-Verbal Reasoning.

How will I know how my child is doing?

I will provide you (and your child) with regular, timely feedback on their work. You can expect to hear from me at least once a week.

How much is the 12-week course?

The course fee is £600, discounted to £575 if paid in advance. Alternatively, you can choose to pay in three instalments of £200.

What does the course involve?

  • The course is a hybrid of self-study and live lessons with me. I provide all of the self study materials.

  • The self-study element is guided by my teaching videos and accompanied by a related activity.

  • You and your child will receive regular feedback on the activities completed.

  •  The live lessons (at least one per week) are run by me and are open to small groups of children enrolled onto the course. In these lessons, we will practise new material, revise tricky 11+ concepts and the children can ask me any questions about their work.

What happens in the teaching videos?

In the teaching videos, I teach 11+ concepts that are likely to come up in the exams as indicated by past test papers. However, I do NOT just ‘go over’ past papers! I will be teaching lessons and my material is original.

My teaching videos are ideal for both visual and auditory learners as the children can hear my voice and also see the information on the screen. If they do not understand something, they can pause and rewind the video.

During each video, your child will need a notebook and pencil as the activities start straight away!

Do I need to provide my child with any resources for the course?

All they need to get started is access to the Internet, a quiet place to concentrate, a notebook and pen or pencil.

Can we do just one part of the course?

No. The course is currently designed to be taken as a complete package.

What happens after the course is finished?

At the end of the course, you and I will arrange a time to have a ‘summing up and next steps’ video chat. Your child is very welcome to attend too! During the chat, we will discuss your child’s strengths and areas for development regarding 11+ work.

What if my child is ill or we go on holiday?

You have access to the course in its entirety for 15 weeks. This gives you three additional weeks to take account of things like illness or holidays.

Do you guarantee a pass?

While great care has been taken when planning and preparing the course and its resources, there is no pass guarantee.

I will offer as much support as I can throughout our time together but examination results are dependent on many factors outside the scope of this course.

Are you qualified to do this?
Yes! I obtained my Post-Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Cambridge in 2010 and went on to have a very successful primary teaching career for 13 years. During that time, I also tutored for the 11+ exams.

What should I do if my child is struggling with the work?

Start by re-watching the teaching videos. If it’s still not making sense, you can contact me via email and I will offer further guidance.

What if my child cannot attend a live lesson?

Don't worry! The live lessons are recorded and made available the following week.

What do I do if it turns out the course isn't a good fit for us?

Always start by sending me an email and we can discuss how I can help. If it turns out this really isn’t the course for your child, no problem at all. I offer a 7-day money back guarantee.
