Hi, I’m Jen! Welcome to my website — thanks for stopping by!

In case you’re wondering, my world revolves around three main loves:  Friends (the TV show), dogs, and baking NYC-style chocolate chip cookies! But my real passion? Educating children.

Even back in the days before smartphones and self-checkouts (anyone else remember life back then?!), when I was stuck in various boring corporate jobs, I always knew education was where I truly belonged.

So — just like Rachel Green leaving Central Perk to chase her fashion dreams — I followed my heart.

I retrained as a primary teacher and graduated from the University of Cambridge with a PGCE in Primary Education in 2010. What followed were thirteen fun, frantic, and fulfilling years in Essex classrooms, mostly teaching Years 5 & 6 — right where the 11+ action happens!

Eventually, though, the ever-growing demands of the profession weren’t quite compatible with the kind of life I wanted to live. So I left behind the endless staff meetings and the pressure of Ofsted to build something different — a way of teaching that puts children’s thinking processes front and centre.

You can take the girl out of Essex…

Although I now live in Hertfordshire, I spent most of my life in Essex and even went to grammar school myself (Southend High School for Girls) — right around the time Ross & Rachel were on a break...

Over the years, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the CSSE 11+ exam. So it made perfect sense to make this the focus of my education business: Learn With Jen.

I help Essex children navigate the 11+ journey with confidence using my signature PREPARE method. It blends my classroom expertise with the flexibility and personalisation that traditional schools and tutors often can’t provide.

While some tutors rely on repetitive drilling and a myriad of practice papers (which can fuel anxiety without improving understanding), my approach is different.

The PREPARE method brings together:
✅ Personalised assessment
✅ Responsive planning
✅ Engaging materials
✅ Positive reinforcement
✅ Adaptive techniques
✅ Regular feedback
✅ Emotional support

The result? Children who not only achieve excellent results, but who actually feel ready for the exam — calm, confident, and often enjoying learning for the first time in years.

This isn’t just about passing a test. It’s about helping children feel smart, seen, and capable.
