Hi! I’m Jen and I’d like to offer you a very warm welcome to my website.

I created ‘Learn With Jen’ after over a decade in the primary classroom enabling countless children to realise their true potential and make fantastic academic progress. 

​

Teaching predominantly in Years 5 & 6, I became very familiar with the 11+ examination requirements. Rated an ‘outstanding’ practitioner, I found myself approached by many parents asking if I would tutor their child on a 1:1 basis for the 11+. I was happy to oblige and enjoyed the more personal nature of tuition.

​

My conversations with parents quickly convinced me how stressful the imminent move to secondary school can be for families. Parents were keen to support their children but often didn’t know where to start. Some were unsure about the content of the 11+ exams; others worried about pushing their children too hard but also knew that a degree of tuition would be necessary. I quickly understood that the 11+ can appear daunting and overwhelming. I recognised (and still do) how confusing today’s education can be if you haven’t been in a classroom since you were a pupil yourself.

Having worked with young families for a long time, I witnessed first-hand how busy life is. Tuition was often squeezed into an already hectic week: parents juggling siblings, sleepovers, ballet lessons…and pupils feeling tired after already working hard at school that day. Sometimes there were just not enough hours in the week and tough choices had to be made between a window for tuition and a beloved football training session.

My successful reputation soon filled my tuition time to capacity but I never forgot the heartache of having to turn wonderful families away. I wished there was a way I could help them all.

​

After my thirteenth year in the primary classroom, I found the solution: a unique and modern approach to offering tuition! Now I could still fulfil my passion of teaching children without reaching capacity and families could have the tuition they needed when it suited them.

​
